We recently stopped by the Archer Hotel Old Town Alexandria – and wow… talk about a boutique hotel with a thoughtfully designed brand.

Our arrival was through a charming brick courtyard, perfectly aligned with Old Town Alexandria’s historic colonial streetscape. While the exterior mirrors the classic architecture of its surroundings, the interior offers a fresh, contemporary contrast.

Meet Johnie
Inside the lobby, we were warmly greeted by Johnie, the hotel’s General Manager.
Johnie may just be the most genuinely hospitable GM we’ve ever encountered. His enthusiasm for his guests radiates through every interaction. He graciously gave us a tour of the common spaces, the guestrooms and AKB (Archer Kitchen & Bar).
AKB. A Neighborhood Gem
AKB feels like an intimate, neighborhood bar, welcoming both guests and locals. The design is playful and unexpected, featuring a menagerie of spectacle-clad creatures adorning the walls – a quirky nod to Archer’s whimsical personality. Signature cocktails and a locally inspired menu are available.

Beyond its casually elegant decor and genuine hospitality lies the brand’s magic – Archer himself.
Archer is the unseen host. You won’t spot him in the lobby, but his charm lingers in every corner. He is sophisticated, witty, and gracious, shaping every stay with care, as if personally hosting you in his own home
Johnie teased that we might run into Archer during our visit – but, of course, we didn’t.
