Small, intentional details set the tone and tell the story of a boutique hotel.
We recently attended a conference in the charming town of Meredith, New Hampshire, at Mill Falls at the Lake. Right on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee, Mill Falls isn’t just a hotel; it’s more like a lakeside village escape. It combines cozy New England charm with the comfort and style of a laid-back luxury resort.
Mill Falls is a collection of four distinctive inns, each offering a unique personality, style, and ambiance, with a unique story to tell.
Church Landing evokes the charm of an elegant Adirondack lodge, complete with antler chandeliers, handcrafted log furniture, vintage oars, and antique fishing gear. In-room stone fireplaces and historic photographs in the common spaces add to its cozy sense of luxury. The highlight? A library reading room lined with shelves of books – perfect for getting a little work done or curling up with a good read.
Bay Point offers uninterrupted lake views and a vintage nautical vibe, complete with rich mahogany accents and subtle maritime touches – navy tones, soft throws, and pillows adorned with anchors. In-room fireplaces invite quiet moments of serenity, while private balconies off each room provide the perfect place to watch the sunrise over the lake.
Chase House sits just across from Meredith Bay, offering scenic views of the town’s docks and easy access to Meredith’s village life. Inside, French Country décor creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. On-site, Camp – a cozy, Adirondack-themed restaurant serves up comfort food favorites, including s’mores for a playful, nostalgic touch.
Palmer House is a family-friendly inn steeped in history and Shaker style. Housed in a restored 19th-century linen mill, it pays homage to Meredith’s milltown roots with thoughtful details and heritage charm. A 40-foot waterfall, considered a key landmark in the town’s industrial development, adds to the inn’s character. With red gingham curtains and bed skirts throughout, Palmer House redefines the traditional country inn with warmth and authenticity.
Whether it’s a cozy weekend for two, a family adventure, or a little solo “me time,” Mill Falls isn’t just a place to stay; it’s an excuse to slow down, unplug, and soak up some classic New England charm.
